Sleeping is one of my favorite things to do, and I know that sounds like such a teenage thing to say, but honestly, I look forward to sleeping. As I was brainstorming what to write for this blog, I thought about the thing I have done the most since being in quarantine. I know for a lot of people being stuck at home is super boring, you might be going crazy, you might be scared or you might be like me. Hi, I'm Marisa, and I am living my best life in quarantine...kinda. At least that is what I have been trying to do. When quarantine started I decided to make a list of things I would get done each day... long story short, it was very very rare that I got even 2 things done on my list. So I decided I either needed to sleep less or do less. I set 5 alarms each morning, 5-10 minutes apart and I successfully manage to sleep through all of them.
I know what you're thinking “ this girl is soooooo lazy, does she ever do anything?” and I assure you yes, I do stuff, just not stuff that is important to me. I’m guilty of going the whole day without thinking about God, without thanking him for keeping the people I love safe and healthy. Oftentimes I go to bed and as I'm falling asleep I think to myself, “ Did I pray today?, I don’t even think I picked up my bible today”. This is something that I am constantly struggling with. It’s so easy to get caught up in your daily life and forget to pray, or read your bible, while you keep saying “Oh, I’ll do it later” or “I’ll do it once I finish the next episode or youtube video”.
It may be different for you, but for me, It’s important to have friends to keep me accountable. It can be people in your small group, your siblings, or your parents. If you have someone there to encourage you to read your bible it will become part of your daily routine. Maybe you can text each other at a given time each day to check in and remind each other to do your quiet time. I’m still working out the best solution to spending time with God, but I know if I put him first he will honor that.
